Halloween 2009

Well, the decision was made as a Wonder Pet, but he was not happy with that choice. Or maybe it was because Aunt K wasn't home. :) It was almost 80 degrees, so he kept taking the hood off because he was so hot. J was in shorts and I was in a short-sleeve shirt. Who would think we would have this weather this late in the year.

Maybe this isn't so bad if I get candy. Wait a minute. What's candy?

You mean I get candy at every house? I could do this all night long.

Aunt K has the best candy.

He was worn out, but on a slight sugar rush.

Happy Halloween!

Science museum visit

We spent Halloween morning at the Science Museum with my sister and her two boys. Cooper was a little small for some of the activities but he hung right in there. He was actually the only one to pet the snake, the hissing cockroach, and the rat playing basketball. We used lots of hand sanitizer after that part of the museum.

Everyone participated in the shark and water exhibit. Cooper wanted to pick up all the animals.

They all belong in some sort of a cage. No, actually they were all very well-behaved.

There were awesome sand exhibits ... that Cooper wanted to tear apart.

Off to the moon ...
Headless W.
Cooper thought this was hilarious until he did a face plant.

Cooper with bat ears. There was a creepy bat exhibit ... perfect in time for Halloween.

Family visitors

My sister brought my two nephews up for a short visit this weekend. They were great with Cooper showing him how the big boys play. We spent some time at the park down the street.

This was the first round of Wii baseball. They quickly progressed to more exciting games, but Cooper was enthralled with all of it.

T was showing him how to use the iPod. This kid is going to be a technology nut just like the rest of us. He was already trying to make a call on my blackberry.

Oh, what to be for Halloween?

A week or so before Halloween, I tried to put a costume on Cooper. He would not have any part of it. I took him to Target a few days later and let him pick out a few to try. He liked feeling all the different textures.

He loves Elmo these days, so I thought this would be a maybe.

But this was also an option because he loves Wonder Pets. So I thought I could make this into Ming Ming by sewing on a cape.

So, what did he decide? Stay tuned for the verdict.

Are you ready for Halloween?

I hope he is not hoping for that much candy. I only wish he had picked up on all the times I have said "Trick or Treat" this week. Well, maybe next year.

Who me? I'm not doing anything odd. Promise.

Look Mom, I can walk with a pumpkin on my foot. Why are you looking at me so weird? It's never dull around here. Stay tuned for the costume decision.

The Pumpkin Patch

Cooper's class went on a field trip to the Pumpkin Patch. The trip included a hay maze, a tractor-drawn hayride down a spooky (daylight) trail, picking your pumpkin right from the patch, and a picnic lunch.

He thought the maze was fun. There was only one pile-up, and they all made it out safely.

I wish I knew what he was so excited about.

They had these crazy old, Halloween costumes set up as scarecrows all over the field. Cooper spent the first 30 minutes running from one to the other. He would get right in front of it and laugh.

He wasn't quite sure of this one, and this is actually as close as we get to the witch. See the look of concern on his face.

Of course Cooper had to pick the biggest pumpkin of any kid in his class, after all, he is the biggest kid in the class. I'm sure that doesn't surprise anyone.

We had a fun morning, and both came home to take a nap. Hopefully we can drag J along with us next year.

Children's Musuem with Dad

J took Cooper out on Sunday while I traveled to Philadelphia. We are now proud members of the Children's Museum of Richmond. I think J got in his exercise that day simply by chasing after Cooper all afternoon.

Yes, Cooper has a new Wonder Pets t-shirt. I bought this one for him to grow into, but when Dad dresses him, you never know what's going to happen. Glad they both survived their father-son outing.

Doesn't take much to entertain a toddler.

Just give the boy a stool and he could play for hours. He giggled and laughed, and had to be dragged up to bed.

Cooper loves Ben, but what does Ben think?

I guess Cooper thought Ben was cold, and maybe he needed a hug or a toddler to ride him.

I can't believe how lucky we are to have a dog like Ben. For all his idiosyncrasies, he tolerates a lot from Cooper. Pay careful attention to Ben's head and expression. It didn't change once throughout this entire episode. Yes, he looks pitiful, but I think he doesn't mind so much.

Oh, and don't worry Mom, I washed the blanket before Cooper slept with it.
