I Love My Vacuum

This morning I found Cooper curled up on the couch with his vacuum.  Yes, I said with his vacuum.  He had the handheld portion up by the pillow and the larger part laying behind him. The only way I got him to leave for school was to tell him that my car needed vacuuming.

What are we going to do with that boy?

Yet, another monkey!

On Nana and Papa's recent visit, Cooper got a new favorite item.  He loves those super soft, plush style blankets.  And Nana found him this one.  He was very into hamming it up.

Visitors

We welcomed an unwanted visitor into our house this week. Let's call him Terrible. I'm not sure if it's because he is showing off for the grandparents, upset because his Dad is traveling, or just because he is 2. But this visitor is plucking my last nerve.

Everything is a grunt or a "No". This visitor can find somewhere else to go, because we want sweet Cooper back.

Let us know if you have seen this face somewhere and direct him back to our house.

Under no false pretenses

So as I mentioned in my February post, there are times when you want to at least mention the not-so-pleasant memories.  If only to make the world seem a little less rose colored and a little more real.  Nothing bad, just every day life.

So, on this beautiful, sunny afternoon, J takes Cooper to the park while I go for a run with friends.  The plan was to meet up at the park so I could grab Cooper and J could finish his workout.  So two things went wrong with that plan, I couldn't finish my run and had to half-hobble to the park because I obviously did not give myself enough time to heal AND Cooper has started the run away game.

We finally corralled him (it took 3 of us, but I am maybe only a 1/2 in my non-running state) and off we went towards home.  He had a minor melt-down getting out of the stroller, then the full head-on one started when we got inside the door.  And it lasted for 55 minutes.  How do I know it lasted that long?  Well I glanced at the clock when it started at 6:57 and I think I felt every minute pass until 7:52.  Or maybe I aged two minutes for every one during that time.

He cried.  He kicked his feet.  He sobbed.  He flung himself on the floor.  He cried "Mammma," but didn't want anything to do with me.  I put him in his room.  He came right back out.  It's almost funny as I type this.  It wasn't funny then.

It finally ended at 7:52 with some distracting motions from J.  He calmly told me he was sorry, and that he wasn't crying anymore.  Then he sat down to eat dinner with puffy, red-rimmed eyes, and was perfectly happy.

Should I go to bed now to put this day behind us or should I prolong my misery by now watching the TarHeels play in the first round of the *** (I can't even type the initials)?  Decisions, decisions.

When does a house become a home?

When the curtains are up ... and

the pictures are hung.  These pictures are pen and ink drawings given to us by our realtor, our first home and our current one.  A wonderful way to remember the past and see the future.

It only took us a few years, but it is definitely home.

Rocking my guys

I was sitting at the kitchen table and I caught this out of the corner of my eye.

I apologize for the shakiness. I'm not the best sneaker-upper.

Then the crazy thing he happened. He stayed in the chair even after being caught by Mommy.  I hope he stays this sweet for at least a little while longer.

Dinner table silliness

He was very full of himself and a lot more animated than the first time we brought him here.

Here is just nine days old.  It's nice to have family-friendly restaurants around.

Conversations with Cooper

On the way to school, this is the story as told by Cooper. He is holding a spatula. "I gotta spatula."

"I cooking."

"I cooking waffles."

How am I going to explain to him that he doesn't need a spatula to make waffles? Maybe another day.

So on the way home that night, we are waiting at a stoplight. A policeman pulls over a car. Cooper exclaims, "Pretty ites mama." Somehow, I don't think that driver thought those lights were too pretty.

****

And finally, "I see a big farm mama."

Now keep in mind that there are no farms between daycare and our house. So I ask him, "What else do you see Cooper?"

"I see a cow. I see a pig."

"What does a pig say?"

"Ick."

Must be a sick pig.

It's never dull with that little guy.
