Drive-in Movie Time

Thanks to M for finding out the scoop, we headed to the drive-in Friday night to see Toy Story 3.  And as usual, we pulled AK along for the ride.  The drive-in just opened this year, and they have done a great job with the place.  There is a nice kid's play area with a toddler one of to the side.  They have your typical little league type fare, hotdogs, hamburgers, snow cones, and of course, popcorn.

We got there early to get a good space, so we had lots of time for the kids to run around and eat dinner before settling in.

Believe it or not, but this actually is a view of Time Out. A parent can find one no matter where they are.

He was so excited when the picture came on, so it was hard to get a shot with him sitting still.
He did finally settle down in the back of the mini-van with the other kids.  And he even drifted off to sleep for a little while, but was wide awake for the end and most of the car ride home.

I can't believe I don't have a picture of him eating anything, because he ate anything and everything.

We had a great time, but it made for a super late night due to it not getting dark until 9 pm.  We will definitely go back again, but probably closer to fall.

Wordless Wednesday - Banana Pops

Not Me - No, I didn't do that

Mckmama- Not Me Monday

No, I did not let my toddler run around naked in the FRONT YARD through the sprinkler.  Well, maybe I did.  We were attempting to water our dying grass since we haven't had a good rain in weeks.  Cooper was in his shirt and shorts and got a little wet.  I convinced him to take off his shirt, and just run through in his shorts.
That lasted a few minutes before the shorts and the diaper came off, and off he went through the sprinkler.
The neighbors weren't offended in the least bit.  One neighbor yelled, "You go Cooper."  The other said to her husband, "Look, there's Cooper butt in the yard."  It's always amazing around here.

This blog carnival was created by MckMama. You can head over to her blog to read what she and everyone else have not been doing this week.

Singing for my Daddy

This was take three, so please excuse the distractions.  Why is it that we never have the camera for the perfect first one?

Why does this scare me?

I have a feeling that everything in the house might get taken apart screw by screw. And don't worry, he was completely supervised for the entire time. I may be shopping for a play drill so he has one that won't wreak havoc.

Snug as a bug

Someone is finally home, and is

as snug as a bug

in a rug

in his own bed.

While I definitely enjoyed and appreciated a little down from being a mom, I was very happy to see the little guy.  He did all the right things by telling me that he loved me and missed me, but I know he had a blast with visiting family and hanging out with Nana and Papa (who are now exhausted).  I hope I get some pictures from them, hint, hint.

I am so glad that we did this so early on because I want Cooper to be one of those kids who loves spending time with the grandparents and who is okay with sleepovers.  Bless those of you who shared a bed with him because he is a wiggler and a bed hog, which is why I refuse to sleep with him.  But we love him anyway.

Toad Hunting

I am so glad I put a small garden in this year. Cooper is learning where food comes from and the habitats that garden's allow. We recently found a creature that Cooper was happy to chase back into the garden.

I just hope he doesn't kiss him.

And I hope he doesn't eat the veggies before they are ripe.  We recently had a lesson in how to tell a ripe blueberry from an unripe one.  Lesson learned ... I hope.

All is well

Cooper left a few days ago with the grandparents to stay at their house.  It is his first trip away from us and our house at the same time.  And reports reveal things are going well.  He has been to a children's museum, visited his great-grandmother, been spoiled by his aunt, gone on several tractor rides, put together endless puzzles, and snuggled lots with his Nana.  The plan for the rest of his stay is to ride a miniature donkey and play with some goats, spend the night with two of his two cousins (good luck to my sis) and visit family in Mayberry.

God bless my parents.  I think they are going to need a long vacation, or at least a nap after this adventure.

Busy guy and sounds of the backyard

Cooper and I spent a good portion of the day hanging out in the backyard.  Even though the yard isn't landscaped yet, we have made some progress and Cooper does have a place to play.  That's the important part.

Dirty, but happy.  What more could a Mom ask for?

Cooling off.

Chasing our Mockingbird (he's right above the top arch of the fence on the left).

Finally, some vegetables and herbs in the ground, with a fun pinwheel for Cooper.  Thanks to Papa for digging it up for us.

I cannot believe this rose bush and hydrangea survived all the contractors who traipsed through our yard during the renovation.  Now, if I can just keep the bugs from eating the roses.  But things are blooming, and Cooper loves it.

You can't see them here, but we have two baby mockingbirds living in our azalea bush. We enjoyed watching the mama feed worms to her babies.  Lots of singing in the yard.

Carolina blue in bloom in my backyard.  Makes me happy.

"Mommy, pick me a piece to smell."  I love that he wants to take time to smell the rosemary.  Sorry about the pun.
The best part about the day was that before going to bed Cooper told me, "Mommy, I had fun with you today."  Who needs landscaping when you get that kind of response?
