Backyard, Day 4

I left for Costa Rica on the 4th day of our backyard remodel.  J showed this by a video chat later that same night.  Gotta love a project that actually happens when it is supposed to.

A few more steps, and we will be really ready to enjoy the backyard.

Backyard, Day 3

Dirt moved from one spot to the next.  Hope this is enough to fill in all the Ben foxholes.

Big enough for the grill, a dining area, and a seating area.  Look at how nice and flat.

Surveying the scene ... notice the hand on the hip.

But I want to use the tools.

More to come in a few days.

Backyard, Day 2

So, we have 3 tons of sand and a lot of pavers.

Who me?  I wasn't doing anything.  I promise.

Backyard Dustbowl?

So, we have neglected our backyard long enough.  And these 105 degree days haven't helped.

The lone bit of green in the backyard ...

So, what to do next?

Superhero Day

The Children's Museum hosted a superhero day today, so I put Cooper in the only costume-like outfit we own and off we went.  When I asked him what superhero he was, he replied, "Super Cooper."

He was gun-shy around the Batman and Superman characters milling around.  To distract him, we visited some of his favorite places in the museum.

The Cave

Where has my baby gone?  Everywhere I look, I only see this big kid.

We spent a little time in the autoshop.

Just when I thought it was time to head home, he warmed up to the idea of the superheroes.  He high-fived Superman and Robin, and took stickers from them.  He also asked to have his face-painted, and he picked out the design himself.

We found a great way to avoid these 100+ degree days we are having around here by hanging out inside, and finishing it off with a milkshake.

Where has Humpty gone?

On the way to school this morning, Cooper looked at one of the buildings that has a retaining wall at the street level.

He said, "Eh, there's Humpty Dumpty's wall."

I replied, "It is?"

Cooper, "Where's Humpty Dumpty?"

"I don't know. Where do you think he is?"

Cooper, "Maybe home.  I miss Humpty Dumpty."

Where does he get this stuff?

At least he has an active, if not quirky imagination.

It's Never Dull

Cooper has been in the habit of reading in his bed at night with his dinosaur flashlight.  So I kept hearing the roaring of the flashlight well past 9 pm, but didn't think anything about it.

J went in to check on him before bed.  He came in our room and said "I'm going to need your help."  Cooper had taken a box of Q-tips and his overnight bag with shampoo, lotion, etc out of his chest and had them in bed with him.  Luckily, he didn't open any of the containers ... this time.  Q-tips were everywhere.

Again, it's never dull.

Children's Museum Fun

We visited our local Children's Museum for Moonbounce Mania.  Yes, I survived.  It does make you question your sanity for taking your kid to events like this, but the smiles on his face were worth it.

Are you tired from all this activity?  I am, but Cooper wasn't.  He is like the Energizer Bunny.

Fishing with Poppa

Styling in my fishing attire.

Why are you holding that thing in front of me?

Well, it must be okay if Poppa is holding it.  Thanks for the fishing lesson.
