We took Cooper on an island walk this weekend. He loves Dora and Diego, and watching them on their adventures, so he spent lots of time looking for bears and climbing up big hills.
He found lots of sticks and water to explore.
But I have to say that some of the old buildings were they highlight of his day.
Luckily, this park is very close to us, so we will be returning on another day. Hopefully, a cooler one.

Spelling lessons
Cooper was so excited to be able to match the letters for the words in this set. He is able to identify several letters without any prompting from us, and he can tell the difference between most letters and numbers. In daycare, they are already working on adding and subtracting with their fingers.
If he keeps this up, J won't be able to help him with his homework by the time he reaches kindergarten.

Backyard - Play Set Done
Finally, another part of the backyard done. The sandbox does need a little more sand, but let's just call in done. Hope Cooper likes it.
Cooper's Night Out
Cooper spent Friday night at his daycare for a Chef's Night. The teachers had planned cooking activities for the kids, and then the finished up with a sleepover. Which meant that J & I were actually able to go out on a date. We had a wonderful, quiet dinner at a very nice restaurant, and then a nice quiet evening. Notice I said nice and quiet twice. Not saying that having a toddler isn't nice, but it is rarely quiet. He is even loud when he sleeps.
Cooper made lots of treats, and seemed like he had a great time.
Just call him Chef Cooper.

Backyard Day 837, or so it seems
Really, since we have started, the backyard project has moved pretty quickly.
Someone had to move 66 bags of rubber playground mulch. Very heavy bags. I think J completed 2-3 days of workouts with this adventure.
Cooper says "Thank you Daddy." And "Thank you Papa for helping us make his play area safe."
And on top of it this adventure, some not-so-wonderful people decided to break-in to our garage. I realize times are hard, but it doesn't give you a warm fuzzy feeling to know people have invaded your space. We are fortunate the things that were taken are just STUFF. We are just fine.

A very long weekend
Our weekend started on Wednesday night when Cooper came home with a fever. I should have known something was up when he was quiet in the car, because that never happens. He laid on the couch the rest of the evening with a fever.
He stayed home Thursday with Daddy who also caught the same bug. They watched lots of old school cartoons, all while running a fever of 102. By the evening, he was the energizer bunny. See how fast the pages are moving on his book.
Thank goodness he finally crashed.
Friday was more of the same, which meant we missed Papa's 70th Birthday Party. We very disappointed to miss celebrating, but I hope the partygoers are happy we kept our germs to ourselves.
Cooper did decide he wanted to do lots of potty training that day, so who are we to stop him.
Pay careful notice to the missing cushion, and I will let you connect the dots on why the cushion was missing.
By Saturday, we were all a little stir crazy. I won tickets to the Squirrels Baseball game, so we packed up with a fever-free kid. The weather was unusual in that the humidity finally broke, and we had a great time. The people we sat around were nice and friendly, and gave Cooper all kinds of kid-friendly stuff.
That picture sums up so much of the weekend.
By Sunday, everyone was back to normal except we discovered a new Cooper. Terrible Two Cooper. If anyone finds our happy, loving, easy-going child, please send him our way.

Backyard (continued)
This very busy guy helped his Dad to prep the area around his playset. Now we are ready for the mulch to finish this area. And sod ... and plants ... and furniture. Does it ever end?

Wordful Wednesday
I need to change things up a little this week.
This is the only picture I have a Cooper from the previous week because my wonderful husband encouraged me to go to Costa Rica with some friends. I have never been anywhere like this before, and it has been wonderful and relaxing. It ended up being part of their rainy season, so we didn't have perfect weather the entire time, but it was definitely good enough.
We zip-lined through the forest (yes, that is me with a complete look of terror on my face), saw monkeys and sloths in a national park, hung out at a beautiful pool, saw one semi-sunset amidst all the clouds, drank and ate well, read three books, and spent time with terrific friends.
A wonderful trip, but now back to reality.
