Fractions at the age of 3

This is the second time Cooper has brought one of these sheets home.  I had no idea they introduced preschoolers to fractions.  He loves telling me what each of them mean.

He is also practicing his name.  He got the first two letters in the box above.  We have been practicing spelling since the letters are on his wall above his bed.  He can get through the "e", but keeps forgetting the "r".

Coloring in the lines

I haven't posted any artwork in a while, so I thought I would give the latest and greatest.  Being affiliated with a college exposes Cooper to more than the average preschooler.  He has already seen several student groups come in to observe or teach.  This was a lesson on whole grains from the nutrition students.

This is the first picture I have seen where he has been able to stay mostly within the lines.

Happy St. Patty's Day

I love the age of 3.  Simply because there is lots of magic around.

J was off to work early this morning, so it was up to me get Cooper up and going.  Let's just say he is not the easiest child to get out of bed.  But the morning, he had motivation.  I woke him up telling him that I thought a leprechaun had visited.  He responded with "What's a leprechaun?"  Lucky for us, Grammy had just supplied us with a book with leprechauns on the front cover.  That perked him and he hopped up for the potty (I did spare you any bathroom shots).  He looked at me and really exclaimed, "Mommy, the leprechaun peed in my potty.  Can I pee on top of the leprechaun's pee?"  Absolutely, Cooper.  Who knew a little food coloring could mean so much to a 3 year old?

Then we headed downstairs, and this is what Cooper found.

The green sparkles were a big hit, which we then spread in the yard to extend our good luck.

That silly leprechaun also left him some glow in the dark bugs (I'm sure to scare me in the future), and the movie Shrek (to teach him how to be a large green ogre).

Hope your day was as fun as ours, and may your luck be good all year long.

The Leprechaun has landed

I hope Cooper will be surprised that a leprechaun visited our house tonight. He left a couple of presents and found Cooper's Irish wear for tomorrow. He also left a sparkly trail on his way out. Just hope the green in the potty doesn't scare him.

Happy St. Patty's Day.

Grammy & Cooper Moments

Please bear with me as I try to get caught up on all the missing posts and pictures.  Life has been a little more to the hectic side, but I don't want to miss posting these moments.

Grammy and Poppa were here for another visit right before St. Patrick's Day.  In true Grammy fashion, Cooper has some additions to his library.  She added to his Richard Scarry collection and a few Irish books.

He sat there so serious while listening to her read three of the four books.  I love how much he loves books.  Then the little stinker tried to talk me into reading them to him again in his bed.  Well, he only talked me into one of them.

Backyard fun

Cooper enjoyed his first picnic in his fort, while Dad was busy putting together a Christmas present.

We are starting him off early in hopes of a scholarship.  Maybe he could help the Tar Heels out after that miserable ACC Tournament game against Duke.

Look at that extension.  Maybe we should send some film to Roy so he can start scouting early.  To my non-basketball friends, I am just kidding ... maybe.  Thanks to the aunts for the basketball goal.

Richard Scarry Fun

Who is this little man that I caught sitting in his rocker reading books quietly to himself?

Why it's Cooper (and a very happy Mommy).  He had a pile of all his Richard Scarry books on the other side of his chair.  He sat there for almost an hour looking at every page of all three books.  Looks like we might have another bookworm in the family.

Date night for Mommy & Cooper

Cooper and I spent a little one on one time Friday night at Chick-Fil-A.  He cleaned his plate of nuggets and fresh fruit, and washed it down with a side of milk before diving into the play area.

I was really impressed with the much older kids who were playing in there and how they treated Cooper.  They let him chase them around and acted like he was part of their game even though he really wasn't.

And because he was hot from all the running around, he needed to be cooled off with a large chocolate milkshake.  He drank 3/4s of it, and then told me he was hungry.  I am dreading the teenage food bills already.

A cool dude

Cooper spent a little time reading on the way to school this morning. He wanted to take a Little Golden Book for show-and-tell today. I thought it was my one of my books but after closer inspection, I realized it was my older sister's. I love knowing so many of us have read the same books.

I need a Spiderman Strength Coffee

When only Spidey strength coffee will do, make a call for Spiderman to make your coffee.

And he even waits patiently while it "brews."  As you might have guessed, we got a new coffee maker, so Cooper spent some pretend time with our old one.  Love my new Keurig.

Growing up before you know it

It was a normal Saturday afternoon. I was doing laundry.  J was doing some random thing.  Cooper was moving from activity to activity.  He has a digital camera that he got a for Christmas a couple of years ago.  It is one of those kid's versions that has games, and he just figured this out.

In between loads of laundry, I noticed that he had gone in his room and closed the door.  When I went in, he was laying on his stomach and playing one of the games.  He looked at me so sweetly and said, "Mommy, I just need some space."

What???  What three year old says that?  Is he going on thirteen already?  I did let him have his space, but with the door open.
